Each time I teach this posture, the reaction is always the same.
“Who knew these muscles existed!!”
Trikonasana allows the body to move and stretch in a way that increases mobility and flexibility by using mucles we don’y usually use in our everyday life.
Give it a try and discover your body!
Utthita Trikonasana – Triangle pose
Indications
Spread apart the legs about 1 meter distance.
Raise the arms parallel to the floor, in line with the shoulders, palms facing down.
Turn the right foot sideways 90 degrees to the right.
Exhale, bend the trunk sideways to the right, bringing the right palm near the right ankle.
Stretch the left arm up to the sky and gaze at your left thumb.
Keep both knees locked.
Repeat the same sequence on the left side
Benefits
This asana tones back and leg muscles.
Relieves back aches and prevents sciatica.
Allows the decompression of the spine, specifically decompression of the sacrum and L5.
Stimulates the abdominal organs, allowing a better digestion and elimination.
This posture gives a deep massage to the liver, which helps to cleanse and detox this organ.
Tip
To help find the right alignment. I suggest practicing this posture against the wall bringing the whole back body in contact with the wall.
