First off, can I mention how much I LOVE those little 1 minute cooking videos by Tasty!? I am on a mission to try as many as I can and convert them into healthier versions. Maybe i’ll also work on my video skills so I can try to film them too, because guys, isn’t life so much better with cooking videos? Nothing will ever replace a great cookbook (i’m old fashioned like that), or a good blog post (wink) but these videos are the bomb. Also, we’ve started sharing some sneak peaks and behind the scenes fun stuff on Snapchat, you should follow us (littlelifebox)!
I started a morning ritual of walking to work yesterday and told myself that i would continue this everyday if I can and then, literally 2 hours later, a snowstorm started. Go home April, you’re drunk! This clearly isn’t the Spring I was hoping for. Here’s to what’s hopefully the last snowfall of the season.
Now, let’s talk about smoothies. I was debating making some awesome apple-cinnamon pancakes this morning, but I was alone and figured it would be much easier to make some liquid nutrition. This has got to be the greenest smoothie I have ever made and it’s the first time I use spirulina. I was shocked by the beautiful turquoise colour that came as a result. I have to add that this smoothie won’t be the sweetest or tastiest you have ever tried, but it’s definitely got some serious nutrition to it.
Ingredients:
- 1 tsp spirulina powder
- 2 frozen bananas
- 1 cup spinach
- 1 tbsp ground flaxseed
- 1 1/2 cup almond milk
- 1 tbsp chia seeds
- 1 tbsp sliced almonds
- 1 handful blueberries
- 1 Chocolate Hemp Bar (sliced in pieces)
Directions:
- Blend spirulina, bananas, spinach, flax and milk in blender.
- Top with chia, almonds, blueberries and sliced hemp bar.
