Ayurvedic Facial

If you've been following our Instagram Stories then you know that my girl Vanessa Tavaglione at Seed & Rind worked some magic on my face when I went for my first ever Ayurvedic Facial.

I got many questions about this treatment and so I figured I would dive into it and talk more about what Vanessa does at Seed & Rind.

Meet Vanessa. AKA Skincare Queen!

She not only gives treatments, but can also make specialized products for your skin type and needs. Needless to say, she is very talented and she is currently booking 2019 clients! You can book your apointment by calling 514.967.8095 or sending her an email at seedandrind@gmail.com and mention Little Life Box when you book to get $20 off your first visit (only valid until February 14th 2019 so hurry!).

About the facial

I arrived at Seed & Rind with a very dry face that was in need of a lot of love. I filled out the questionnaire beforehand so Vanessa knew exactly what my skin needed before I arrived, but I don't think she was expecting it to be so dry. My skin literally absorbed everything she put on my face as if it was dying of dehydration.

From the Ayurvedic perspective, beauty care treatments aim primarily to release the skin and body of ama (toxins), restore cellular nutrition and balance the doshas - the three essential energies (Vata, Pitta and Kapha) that make up our specific mind-body constitution. To improve blood and lymph circulation, eliminate toxins and tone the skin, the treatment includes procedures such as cleansing, ancient Ayurvedic massage and anti-aging techniques, herbal facial compresses, gentle exfoliation, facial mask and moisturizing. Ayurvedic facials can also help to improve scars, hyperpigmentation, sun damage and inflammatory or hormonal skin conditions by stimulating the deeper layers of the dermis and marma points of the face, as well as the integration of healing botanicals.

Ayurvedic beauty treatments are highly individualized and makes use of 100% natural and organic formulas, that are for the most part, freshly handcrafted. The methods and plant-based ingredients used to achieve balance are different for each person and vary from one treatment to another, depending on the client’s constitution, skin type and even mental-emotional state.

Therefore, there is no one size fits all treatment plan, as no one is showing up with the same type of skin or doshic imbalance. This is what makes Ayurvedic facial treatments so unique and effective! The secret is to understand the particular balance of doshas in each individual and to adapt the treatment and products accordingly. This holistic and all-natural approach is intended to not only bring radiance and rejuvenation to the skin and overall complexion, but also to encourage a deep sense of grounding. And this goes for women of any age!

I honestly loved my experience and wish I could get one of these every week! For now, Vanessa has suggested that I moisturize my skin with rich oils like Argan or Avocado oils and massage my whole body to also help my blood circulation.

Vanessa offers Ayurvedic Facials, Indian Head Massages, Custom Beauty Formulations, Ayurvedic Consultations and Special Events & Retreats. If you're in the Montreal area, I highly recommend checking it out!
