Supta Baddha Konasana – Reclining Bound Angle Pose
This highly beneficial restorative posture is simple to practice and effortless, which makes it accessible to everyone.
Allow yourself to relax completely in this posture, letting the accessories support your body. For additional comfort use bolsters to support your back, blankets to keep you warm and blocks and straps to support the legs.
This posture (asana) allows an external rotation of the shoulders and opening of the respiratory system. It helps to relax the abdomen and create space for the digestive organs allowing better digestion and elimination. This posture also stimulates the reproductive and nervous systems. Finally, it is highly recommended during pregnancy and for women suffering from menstrual pain.
I recommend holding this posture for 5 to 10 mins in order to relax completely and obtain all the benefits.
Please keep in mind that for all postures, it is important to listen to our body and respect our limits.
